On behalf of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET), I would like to extend a warm Queensland invitation to attend our forthcoming ACPET 2011 National Conference and the 2nd Annual Asia-Pacific International Education Forum in Brisbane, Queensland, from 24 - 26 August.

The venue for the conference is the Sofitel Hotel in the heart of Brisbane's thriving central business district and in proximity to world class restaurants, galleries, museums and of course shopping.

The ACPET National Conference is the largest, most prestigious gathering of private and non-for profit educators and trainers in Australia and provides a fantastic opportunity for networking and professional development.

ACPET is Australia's national industry association for independent providers of tertiary education and training. Now in our third decade, we represent over 1,100 institutions offering a diverse range of higher education, vocational education, English language and foundation studies courses to Australian and overseas students.

Our mission is to enhance quality, choice, innovation and diversity in Australian education and training. ACPET's national network of offices and secretariats works with government at all levels to promote and enhance quality, equitable and accessible educational outcomes for individuals, industry and the wider community.

In line with our mission, the conference offers a comprehensive program designed to challenge, inform and entertain. Join us to hear from a distinguished lineup of experts, visionaries, provocateurs and industry thought leaders. You will also have an opportunity to engage with colleagues from around the world and to share first-hand insights and ideas in roundtable discussions.

New research results and trends will be examined, and together we can explore the dramatic shifts taking place in the globalised international education sector. We will scrutinise the impact of government policy on your business and map strategies for operating in times of increased complexity. New business models leading to innovation and sustainability will also feature.

As we are expecting to welcome several hundred interstate and offshore visitors, a complementary visitation and social program will provide for networking events and opportunities to experience the sights and sounds of the wonderful state of Queensland. The famous golden beaches of Surfers Paradise and the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast are only an hour's drive away.

I look forward to welcome you to the ACPET National Conference in my hometown of Brisbane – Australia's New World City.
